01

Measure before choosing a bed

Measure the room, the door swing and the space you need to walk around the bed. A bed that fits the layout leaves the room easier to use every day. Choose slim bedside furniture if a full-size table blocks the path.

02

Give every item a place

Use drawers, a wardrobe or suitable under-bed storage for items you do not need on display. Keep a few everyday things within easy reach. Clear surfaces give the eye somewhere to rest.

03

Use light in layers

Let daylight in when possible, and use curtains that suit your privacy needs. Add a bedside or wall light for reading so a large lamp does not take up the whole table. Warm, gentle light makes the room inviting at night.

04

Keep the palette simple

Choose a small group of colors for the walls, bedding and curtains. Bring in texture through fabric or wood, and finish with one personal detail you love. This gives the room character without filling every corner.
